Another thought about “perfect” pitch. We were talking about how some of us have almost absolute pitch, within a decent half-step or so. I’ve figured out another reason for some of this. I sometimes like to listen to Baroque flute and recorder music. It’s my understanding that, particularly if music is played on Baroque-style instruments, the standard for A is not 440, but more like 415 or so. So, well, wouldn’t this slightly confuse one’s mind and ears when it comes to nailing *exact* pitches down to small increments?
Just another thought, as I sit here listening to some really wonderful flute and harp music!
